Ringo is Malware

Last week, I had the forturne of one of my x-cow-orkers joining the malware photo sharing Website called Ringo. While trying to get this persons photos, Ringo asked me for my MSN username and password. WTF? Now, I know how I got spammed, I'm an MSN friend of this x-cow-orker. Import your MSN list and SPAM them all. Well, I'm not that stupid. I entered false credentials, never got further and exited the session. Too late, now I'm getting regular SPAM email from Ringo.

I think ringo is a BIG scam!

I acsedently entered in my details. WHAT SHALL I DO!

I have seen no problems yet!

I got an email from a friend, and I signed up to see the pics he's uploaded.  No pics.  Now are they going to send out email to my address book?  RINGO SUCKS
If you've already signed up, then it already be too late. If Ringo is honorable, then you do not need to delete your account. If Ringo is no honorable, then they will likely not let your delete your account. Have fun!

Randy
This is stupid. Ringo aren't the kind of organisation that could just spam you and get away with it, they're a reputable organisation. They're in the same network as Monster.co.uk for Christ's sake! If they were spamming like nutters then they'd get cracked down on. You're probably just getting frequent invitations from your friends on Ringo, thats the point of it, to invite ALL your friends. Didn't you say they joined and you were trying to get to their photos? That's your "spam"...

Ringo RULE photo sharing. It's not difficult to add your friends on it, not sure how you guys haven't figured it out!

And this is a MALWARE site! Do you even know what malware is? Here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=malware

Ok rant over
Any updates on Ringo? I just received their invite from a friend today for first time and I was very disturbed by the request for my gmail password. I entered a fake password which it rejected. I cannot think of any legitimate reason why a photo sharing service would need my gmail password. I use Snapfish and it has never been invasive in this way. Does anyone have more info?

No, I wouldn't touch Ringo. It's rotten!

Randy

To delete a ringo account, you go into your account details and then near the bottom there is a link which says 'delete info' click on this and your account will be deleted. Good Luck!

S & S

I've had quite a few friends that I've received the ringo photo sharing scam email from. ALL of them said they received the same email and now all of the folk in their email addy list are receiving the same photo sharing email. I've also received copies of it from them.

Plus everyone who ended up in this situation also received the pop-up Win Antivirus Pro bombaring their IE browsers.

I used Spyware Doctor to get rid of the crap this whole saga put on my computer and told my friends to use it also.

Dear Plebs.
If youve given your email (hotmail, yahoo, gmail, fillmyasswithspamMail) account username and password to Ringo or other slightly useful and evil KAOS site....
----------------------------------------------
CHANGE YOUR FUNKING EMAIL ACCOUNT PASSWORD!!

------------------------------------------------------
They will have your contacts list but will now be unable to update it or send from your email account.

This Ringo SUCKS....this is fraud

they have not asked permission to use other peoples account.......I would not be upset if the email was from Ringo but it is not..... it's from a friend who did not give her permission for Ringo to use her account. Everyone should black list this company they have no ethics..... this is just WRONG

Ringo should just have a delete account button. They suck so bad I always get crap emails

yup,u jus go 2 account details at da top of da homepage nd click deleate details

Come on guyz/galz, would u give your HOTMAIL username & password to a site that was not HOTMAIL?  Ye who enter your username & password deserve what you get.  My first visit there and it was like "DANGER Will Robinson, DANGER"
For you younger folk that means "RED FLAG, RUN, RED FLAG"
Ringo caused my computer to crash. It was completely destroyed by all the crap from Ringo. I got a mail from Ringo adressed from a a friend. I was stupid and naiv back then, so of course I made the very BIG mistake to click on the link and I gave away my password and contact list. I hurried to warn my friends. I made to warn them, but my computer never worked again. Now I have a new computer and I am very careful with opening e-mails, even when it looks like it is from a friend.
I get ringo email from a friend and alywas delete it. Now I'm getting ringo email from ringo. I first requested to unsubsscribe in April 2007. I just requested again. I'm pretty sure that if they were that "reputable" they would have honored my request to unsubscribe the first time. The CAN SPAM act's time frame for email removal from lists is a lot shorter than a year.
